I have PhD/MSc degrees from Imperial College London. I am an expert tutor of /A-level/GCSE maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. I also tutor University level Mathematics, Statistics, SPSS/Stata based projects, fluid/structural mechanics etc.
I like to begin by gathering what is already known by the student and then asking questions to build up knowledge with regards to the subject at hand. I like to get students thinking for themselves and applying what will be taught as I think that this is the best way to truly test and enhance understanding.
There is not really a single teaching method as it will depend on the student and how they learn best. The main thing is to prepare what you will teach in detail so that you can best translate this to the student.
Since Biology is a memory based subject, I usually approach it methodical way, by starting with the basics and building it up. Students will be encouraged to take an active role and asked to do practice questions to help them retain important facts and figures.
1-1 tutorials in which we will go through the student's syllabus, focusing on all area of study relevant to the students examination.
My teaching method is through encouraging growth mind set, let the students make their mistakes through past papers and other means of assessments, and then let them analyse what they go wrong, why they got that wrong.
I use my own presentations for each lesson with the worksheets to understand and assess the level of understanding of student. Discuss worksheets and also allocate homework to be given on the following due lesson.
I will go through the specification of the exam board and see how each student revises, as everyone has different ways of studying. Biology is a subject with lots of memorizing to do, and I will be able to help with that by testing them.
I believe in teaching to the students needs, whether that be mainly visual, spoken or practical. I'm passionate about my subjects and find it rewarding when inspiring a student on a subject. I think it's a benefit to look at a topic from various angles in order to get a holistic view of the topic.
I am a gap year student who completed her A levels with 3 As in Chemistry, Biology and French. I teach AQA Chemistry. I give lessons to a range of different students and I am currently tutoring approximately 60 students in total, in groups, pair and one-to-one sessions.
My main goal is to get the students to understand the misconceptions that they are struggling with by way of explanation to the individuals needs.
My teaching method is interactive and learner centred tailored to subject requests. I use a variety of methods including exam questions, tutorials and discussion based problem solving.
Explain topics throughly so that you understand them and if you have any questions then you can ask me and I will explain it again.
I believe in one to one tutoring as it allows the student to connect on an individual basis and also understand at their own speed
Its all based on discussion. Usually start by me and then side by side students involvment in the topic to let build their interest and gain knowledge what i have.
I start off with the main concept that the topic is offering. I make sure that the student understands the main logistics and take it forward from there.
Teaching has always been rewarding and I want it to continue to be so. I want my students to have fun and essentially enjoy what they are learning while also focusing on exam technique.
Both me and my wife Ellen have been KS3&4 science and maths teachers since 1993. Ellen also teaches KS5&6 chemistry. We normally teach at our home in Chadwell Heath but we are flexible to travel reasonable distances with prior arrangements. - Which subject(s) do you teach? Mathematics, biology, physics (KS3&4) and Chemistry (KS5&6), these our main area of specialization.
My teaching methodology is to really listen to the student and address the concerns they have in that particular subject. I believe patience is the most essential quality and take the time to go through concepts and ideas in a slow but thorough manner, while relating to the student and ensuring they maintain interest throughout.
Is A level Biology not as straightforward as you thought? I can help! I am a first year university student studying Dentistry at the University of Dundee but living in London during the holidays. I give one-to-one or group lessons to AS and A level students studying Biology either online (via webcam) or in person during the Christmas, Easter and Summer holidays. I am flexible with timing.
My academic qualifications include a: 2:1 Masters degree in Education, Post-graduate diploma in Education, 2:1 Bachelors Degree in Biology. I believe in relaxed lessons with a casual atmosphere as I want all my students to have a comfortable learning atmosphere. I also believe lessons should always include exam questions in order to prepare for upcoming exams.
