I am a passionate maths teacher. I teach in all grades of different levels. A lesson structure starts with homework questions, new topic explanation with group work and individual work. My methodology is based on spiral method. I usually put the idea of a topic in a student’s head, than during next lessons make them assimilate the topic with more challenging problems.
I think the best way is to discover the student's learning style, as everyone is different. From there I can adapt my approach based on what comes most naturally to each student, but I think regular repetition is important for virtually everyone and making sure the student participates as much as possible and has their own input rather than the teacher speaking all the time.
I do not believe there is a single formula or method to teach students because there is just so much individual variance and I cannot in good faith give details of a teaching methodology. However, understanding the students abilities, likes and dislikes and thought process are things i use to build a system that helps the student achieve their goals.
I like to approach the teaching and tuition of both maths and statistics by allowing pupils to gain an understanding of the methodology behind each topic and question type. I believe that once this is understood and mastered, pupils are able to face any question posed to them, inputting the given data set into the methodology that they know so well.
My approach is pupil focused. I will adapt to the needs of the learner. My aproach will assess where a pupil is at. Then work on how best to help the pupil make progress. I also hope to enspire passion for science learning in the pupil.
Each student is individually different, like I needed an alternate approach to teaching because of my better visual-learning ability, I will adapt my lessons to how the individual learns best. I also understand how important patience is when it comes to teaching so students will not be exposed to unnecessary pressure.
I am adaptable to the tutoring desires of each student and would tailor my teaching accordingly. I can offer specific exam technique targeted tutoring for the science subjects, breaking down how to do past paper questions as I have always found this the method for exam success. If an understanding of the theory is the primary issue, I can break subjects down and start from first principles.
The key to teaching I believe is ensuring the student feels comfortable asking any question to improve there understanding. Its important to have several methods to explain a concept and I find visual aids to be a useful tool to engage people when learning. Furthermore by breaking the task down into smaller, manageable ideas it is easier to grasp a large concept.
My teaching methodology changes with each student. First I will establish gaps in knowledge and then go back to basics to cement the fundamentals.

I approach difficult topics in lessons starting by asking what the pupil understands at the moment. I'm good at taking a step back from difficult concepts, returning to clearly explaining basics to try to help the tricky idea become logical.
