I am currently Deputy Head of Mathematics at one of London's top independent schools and I have been teaching Mathematics for 18 years now. My aim is to maximise the potential of my students in the subject. - Which subject(s) do you teach? I teach Mathematics from Year 7 up to A2 level Mathematics and Further Mathematics. - Tell me about your qualifications.
A fun interactive session- hands on, practical learning whereb students love to learn and not see it as a chore. My passion is for students to achieve deep understanding of key concepts and acquire skills that allow them to explore the world of learning. I want to help every child achieve their full potential.
- Classes Children follow a programme, the starting point being determined by an initial assessment. The maths programme is pure maths - from number recognition to GCSE algebra. It includes topics such as shape, time, measurement, area/perimeter, series, etc. We will also help with applied topics as required. We can provide practice papers for school exams (KS1, KS2, GCSE).
I was winner of the National Lecturer of the Year (a competition held among all UK universities) for my multi-faceted approach to teaching: This means brilliant teaching, but much more: I set work and support my students during the week with the hmk. - Which subject(s) do you teach? Maths. Only maths. GCSE Maths. A-level Maths. Further Maths (A-level). AEA and STEP (still maths).
My method of teaching is based of the fundamental idea of understanding, firstly insuring students have the right knowledge before attempting problems I teach topics in detail using a variety of resources from textbooks, to computer's to provide the best service possible.
I assess each student's academic capability and formulate specific lesson plans to achieve their goals by guiding them to their highest potential. I write the objectives and goals with the student and use various learning styles to make the lessons entertaining as well as educational.
I will teach a student till he/she clearly understand the subject. This is achieved by teaching and testing the knowledge and correcting again. Also I promise to try my best to make a student qualified and understand the subject properly.
An articulate Academic Professional with a proven track record of positive contribution towards learning, teaching and development of the young and adult learners. I have also acquired a deep knowledge of National Curriculum & motivating my learners and inspired them to do well in their studies. - Classes One to one and group classes.
My approach is simple and more of understanding the needs to each student on one to one basis. I hold a Bachelors Degree in Commerce and Economics and teaching student is always my passion. I bring in 5 years of teaching experience and would like to share my knowledge with students.
My approach is very student-centred tailored to each student's individual needs. I use a variety of teaching techniques such as discussions, slides and white board. I focus on problem areas the student may need to work through. I make sure students leave my lesson with all questions answered. Regular feedback and tests will be given to students to check progress.
I prefer to give lessons to students in primary school up till year 8 as well entrance exams. I prefer to first find out how much the student already knows and how confident they are in each topic of their curriculum and then carry on from there, making sure they get lots of practice on their weaker areas.
As someone who has been through the struggles of GCSE and A levels, I like to centre my lessons around the needs of my students and will adapt my style to what best suits the student. If I'm going to be your tutor, I would appreciate it if you told me your exam board and prior to each lesson, the topics you are struggling with.
I begin sessions by asking them what they are currently studying in class at their school and what problems they may be having currently so that they don’t fall behind on the basics. From there, I can build on that foundation and help them excel in their lessons and get into the secondary school they would like to go to.
I tend to base my lessons around what the student finds difficult, as to make sure they get to understand what they are struggling with. The students will need to bring in work they are finding difficult and I will help them progress by giving them similar problems to work on and direct them to some helpful source materials.
I believe in mastery. Every topic in maths has a pre-requisite which when mastered allows for progression. I have spent my career learning and mastering techniques for drawing out and addressing misconceptions via a variety of methods. This is where is usually begin with tutees as it helps improve their confidence (which is imperative for succeeding with maths).
I teach students from ages 5-16 years ranging from basic maths to further maths and statistics up to GCSE. I teach my students in terms of the chapters and basics. Going through exam materials and papers making sure the student passes efficiently. Any trouble the student has is focused on more and making the learning fun and enjoyable.
I always begin the first class doing 2 things: 1) getting to know you- this builds a strong rapport between us, 2) giving an initial assessment to see what level you are at and what specific topics we need to work on. After that, all lessons are based on previous classes and what you personally feel you need to work on in that particular lesson.
The key principle I apply across my students is the understanding that each student has unique characteristics and responds to various teaching and learning techniques. The general structure of lessons is to spend the first portion of the lessons learning the content, before applying it to questions, with a particular focus on exam technique.
I base my teaching on whatever the student finds the most challenging, and then branch out from there, covering each topic in depth. I focus on ensuring that the main topics which are the hardest and are worth the most marks, are fully covered first.
I teach with empathy as I have experienced the stress of being a student myself. I am a friendly person and I work towards creating a helathy bond between my tutees so they are comfortable and can approach me or ask me for help whenever help is needed. I also take pride in helping students do well, so I tend to push tutees beyond what they think they are capable of.
I give Mathematics lessons at primary and secondary (GCSE and A-level) level. The Lesson structure includes several starter exercises, or introductory tutorials which depend on the preference of the tutee and level of confidence in a topic. Lessons mainly consist of first understanding the principles.
My teaching methodology is starting with the basics at first , this allows me to have an understanding as to what level everyone is at and what I need to focus my teaching on.
As a student, I have recent experience in doing my exams. I can provide students with tips and how to achieve the best grades smartly. I give lesson to students below the age of 14 and will be able to boost the students grades up within a few months.
I prefer one on one academic tutoring, where I can understand the student and help him to understand the subject and excel. Mathematics for me is a language, with proper understanding and practise a full control over the subject can be obtained.
My teaching structure is based around the topics the students are finding the most difficult and need the most attention with; these topics will be prioritised, and once these are covered I will address the other topics in the students curriculum. My lessons involve teaching and explaining the topic to the student and going through examples, and each possible question type for that topic.
I like to get to know each student individually and tailor my tutoring methods to their needs. I allow students to voice their concerns and areas they would like to improve on and focus my efforts on helping them in these areas. I go over concepts which they don`t understand or need clarifying, help them with homework and set them problems and exam questions to improve exam technique.
I teach very freely. I don't believe that students learn from text books i feel the teacher needs to do just as much as the student in terms of preparation for a class and they need to be ready for any questions a student might throw thier way.
My teaching methodology is to find out the areas that are the most problematic in the syllabus and the areas needed to be covered and to break things down in the simplest form possible.I use real life analogies to explain things so that everyone gets that 'light bulb' moment.
